Rangers vs Celtic: Match preview.
Can Rangers continue their best start to a season since before the world wars?
On Wednesday afternoon, the Gers’ winning run continued with a 2-0 victory at St Mirren Park.
Kemar Roofe and then Alfredo Morelos with two quick-fire goal in Paisley.
This means Rangers have won 13 Premiership games in a row, scoring 39 and conceding just two.
They also remain unbeaten in the league so far, drawing only twice, at the Tony Macaroni Arena and Easter Road.
This leaves them 16 points clear of their great rivals having played three games more.
Steven Gerrard’s men have also reached the Europa League knockout phase, coming through three qualifying rounds then topping their group above Benfica, Standard Liège and Lech Poznań.
The only defeat they’ve suffered in 32 games in all competitions came at St Mirren in the League Cup quarter-finals last month.
Aside from that, it’s been an almost perfect first half of the campaign.
Back in mid-October, Connor Goldson’s brace saw Rangers win 2-0 at Celtic Park.
Can Celtic close the gap?

As for Celtic, there is no room for error.
The Hoops’ season unravelled between that Old Firm defeat on 17 October and 6 December.
In that time, they won just one in five in the Premiership, drawing with Aberdeen, Hibernian and St Johnstone.
They were also eliminated from the League Cup by Ross County, ending their 35 match unbeaten run in domestic cups.
As well as that, the Celts crashed out of the UEFA Europa League with a whimper, amassing just one point from their first five group games.
However, since beating Lille 3-2 in a dead-rubber, things have improved for Neil Lennon’s side.
On Wednesday, Celtic made it four Premiership wins on the spin by beating Dundee United 3-0 at Parkhead.
Just ten days earlier, Celtic completed the quadruple treble by beating Heart of Midlothian on penalties in the Scottish Cup Final.
Despite all the promising signs, Celtic remain 16 points behind Rangers and, even if they were to win their three games in hand, the gap would stand at seven.
Thus, they simply cannot afford to lose this one if they are to complete the historic ten-in-a-row.
Will Celtic ensure the title race is back on with a win at Ibrox?

Given Rangers’ form, there is no need for Steven Gerrard to make too many changes, despite the recent hectic schedule.
Allan McGregor will get the nod in goal ahead of Jon McLaughlin despite the fact the latter has made 11 appearances this season, the most recent of those on 10 December in PoznaЕ„.
At the back, captain James Tavernier has been their player of the season so far, scoring 17 and providing 14 assists from right-back.
Borna Barišić and the hero of the October Old firm Connor Goldson will also start but Leon Balogun could come in for Filip Helander at centre-back.
Nikola Katić, who scored the winner at Parkhead 13 months ago, is injured.
A lot has happened in those 13 months, both in a Glasgow footballing sense and, of course, around the world.
In midfield, both Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield are injured.
So, Glen Kamara will be the anchor with Steven Davis and Joe Aribo likely to start either side.
South African international Bongani Zungu is the only other available option.
Out-wide, Ryan Kent was rested in Paisley but is likely to return with Ianis Hagi on the other flank.
Kemar Roofe, despite the fact he scored his 12th of the season on Wednesday, could be dropped to the bench.
There he’d join Brandon Barker, Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe because Alfredo Morelos is likely to lead the line.
The Colombian is yet to score in ten appearances against Celtic but can he change that and fire his side to a, potentially, defining win?

As for the visitors, Neil Lennon has some big decisions to make, one of which is in goal.
22-year-old Conor Hazard has had the gloves recently including, in just his third senior appearance, saving two penalties in the shootout win in the cup final.
However, Greek international Vasilis Barkas was recalled on Wednesday so now seems likely to start this huge game.
In defence, Christopher Jullien hobbled off against Dundee United so is unlikely to be fit; a huge blow.
Nir Bitton is in pole position to step in alongside Kristoffer Ajer with Shane Duffy the other option.
At right-back, Jeremie Frimpong will start because, not only is he in good form, his back-up, Hatem Abd Elhamed, is injured.
On the left, Lennon has been chopping and changing between Diego Laxalt, who’s on loan from A.C. Milan, and Greg Taylor.
The Uruguayan is, seemingly, going to get the nod.
However, just as happened against Hearts at Hampden, captain Scott Brown will come in for the Ivorian.
Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie and David Turnbull will keep their places in midfield although, the shape will surely be adjusted.
In recent games, Celtic have been playing a 4-4-2 diamond however, given how instrumental Rangers’ full-backs are, that would surely be kamikaze tactics.
So, Mohamed Elyounoussi could come in on the left with Christie pushed out towards the right.
If Lennon did switch to 4-2-3-1, Leigh Griffiths would be the man to miss out, joining Tom Rogic, Mikey Johnston and Albian Ajeti on the bench.
James Forrest is a long-term absentee.
Odsonne Édouard, who’s got three in his last three, will lead the line, looking to add to his six Glasgow derby goals.
Rangers vs St. Johnstone Prediction.
Rangers and St. Johnstone will be facing off in a game which will put the league leaders under pressure. As Rangers continue to run away with their 72 point tally, Celtic can only hope their rivals will ever slip up - but it does not look like it at all at the moment. In this match, we will carefully analyse how we think this game will turn out, with the leaders having a substantial chance to continue their amazing title charge against the saints here. We will be doing here by analysing both teams who will be taking part before looking at our prediction of the gameplay and score itself. By the end, we’ll have summarised the article for you and put in such a way you’ll be able to have a crack at the game yourself - at your very own risk!

Rangers vs St. Johnstone Betting Tips.
Rangers will be taking the lead with style - they have won all of their last games apart from one, against strong-willed Motherwell. Their most recent game came against Hibernian in Edinburgh, which they triumphed in with a 1-0 defensive masterclass.
St. Johnstone - having entered much better form recently, the management will be delighted looking back onto their form. Their most recent game was a 2-3 win away from home to Kilmarnock, meaning they’ve really begun to believe in themselves even in uphill battles.
This game will be a battle between two formidable teams. But we think Rangers will have too much an influence on the league to be beaten here.
Rangers vs St. Johnstone Correct Score Predictions.
Both sides to find the net, but a 3-2 win for Rangers in our opinion - we think they’re too good to be halted here.
